The cultural divide between the Bangladeshi community of Brick Lane
in London and the corporate world of the City of London is huge,
yet geographically they are so close, and there is an extremely
sudden and fascinating transition between them.
Both areas have very strong cultural identities, which are, in both
cases, represented very obviously by the clothing worn.
The sari-suit allows someone to express allegiance to both cultures
without either being diluted. The integrity of both is maintained,
whilst elements of each are brought together. In this way diversity
is increased and community feeling can be maintained.
